The Hazelwood Municipal Court and Violations Bureau was established July 5, 1961 in compliance with the rules and regulations of the Missouri Supreme Court.
Hazelwood Municipal Court is the judicial branch of the City government and is a division of the Circuit Court of St. Louis County, 21st Judicial Circuit. . The Municipal Judge and Prosecuting Attorneys are appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the City Council. The Court adjudicates all city ordinance violations including traffic, criminal, housing, zoning and various other types of violations. These ordinance violations are filed by the Hazelwood Police Department and Code Enforcement Officers.
Our mission is to provide responsible management of court records and funds for fines and forfeiture revenues to ensure compliance with legal provisions embodied in State and City laws. Further, the Municipal Court is to treat the citizens who appear in a timely, courteous, and efficient manner and assure them of a fair and impartial disposition of their case(s).
The Honorable Judge Kevin Kelly serves as Hazelwood’s Municipal Court Judge and Stephanie Karr serves as Prosecuting Attorney. One Deputy Court Clerk, one court clerk, several volunteers and Police Explorers also assist the Municipal Court. The Court Administrator manages the day-to-day functions of the Court and the Violations Bureau.
Court sessions are held on designated Tuesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. Court dockets are seen in alphabetical order.
